When Removal Is Necessary

Not all insulation problems can be solved by adding more on top. When existing material is contaminated, wet, or structurally compromised, removal is the only way to ensure your new insulation performs correctly and your attic is safe.

Reasons to Remove Existing Insulation

Pest or Rodent Infestation

Rodents, squirrels and other pests nest in attic insulation, leaving behind droppings, urine and contamination that compromise air quality and require full removal.

Water or Mold Damage

Wet insulation loses all thermal value and becomes a breeding ground for mold. After a roof leak or moisture intrusion, damaged insulation must be removed before mold spreads.

Old or Deteriorated Material

Insulation from the 1970s-80s may contain deteriorating materials that have lost their thermal value or pose air quality concerns. Replacement restores full performance.

Major Renovation Work

Electrical upgrades, HVAC improvements or structural repairs often require clearing the attic floor. We remove existing insulation cleanly and reinstall new material after the work is done.

Our Removal Process

01

Inspection & Assessment

We inspect the attic to identify the scope of contamination or damage and confirm what needs to be removed before recommending a path forward.

02

Safe Removal

Using commercial-grade vacuum equipment and protective barriers, we remove old insulation without spreading contaminants to your living space.

03

Attic Cleaning & Sanitation

After removal, we clean and sanitize the attic floor to eliminate residual contamination, mold or pest debris before new insulation goes in.

04

Fresh Insulation Installation

We install new blown-in or batt insulation to the recommended R-value for Oklahoma, leaving your attic performing at full capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my insulation needs to be removed rather than added to?
Removal is necessary when existing insulation is wet, moldy, contaminated by pest droppings or urine, or made of deteriorated materials. If the insulation is in good condition adding on top is usually sufficient. We inspect and give you an honest assessment.
How long does insulation removal take?
A typical attic takes 4 to 8 hours depending on size and how much material is being removed. Heavily contaminated or packed-down attics may take longer. We give you a time estimate before starting.
Is old insulation dangerous?
It depends on the material and condition. Insulation from before 1980 may contain asbestos and requires professional testing before removal. Pest-contaminated insulation carries health risks from droppings and urine. We handle removal safely with appropriate protective equipment.
Can I stay in my home during insulation removal?
Yes in most cases. Our vacuum equipment contains the removed material and prevents it from spreading to your living space. For heavily contaminated attics we may recommend opening windows for ventilation during the process.
Do you dispose of the old insulation?
Yes. We bag and remove all old insulation material and dispose of it properly. You do not need to arrange disposal since it is included in the job.
How soon can new insulation be installed after removal?
In most cases we install new insulation the same day as removal. If sanitation treatment is needed after pest contamination we may recommend waiting 24 hours for the treatment to fully dry before installing new material.
